Teemu Selanne says joining the exclusive club of 600-goal scorers means more to him than breaking childhood idol Jari Kurri's career total.

(AP) Selanne needs only two goals to surpass Kurri as the NHL's highest scoring player from Finland, but Anaheim has only seven games left and the Ducks 39-year-old star is likely to retire after the season.

Whatever his final total, Selanne will go down as the greatest offensive player his country has ever produced. And he will join Kurri in the Hall of Fame as soon as he is eligible.

Power Rankings: Wings peaking when it matters most

Does this look familiar? Seeing the Detroit Red Wings on top of the power rankings, we mean.

Ratto: NHL should use head, add more to head-shot rules

The National Hockey League struck with del and when we say "deliberate," we mean not as fast as they want to take credit for being.

But that's a quibble. The league did something positive to reduce the number of gratuitous head injuries in its sport, and we would give it full credit if it weren't already claiming credit for itself.

Turns out the strong finish told a lot more about Steven Stamkos than the weak start.
