Wickmayer, Malisse cleared to play; ITF lifts ban

US Open semifinalist Yanina Wickmayer earned a major off-court victory Wednesday when officials lifted her one-year ban for violating anti-doping rules.

The 20-year-old Belgian was banned in November for breaking World Anti-Doping Agency regulations by failing to report her whereabouts for drug testing three times.

Another Belgian, 2002 Wimbledon semifinalist Xavier Malisse, was banned at the same time and also had his suspension lifted Wednesday.

Molik on track for Open wildcard

Australia's former world number eight Alicia Molik says she has no injury concerns as she continues her return to competitive Tennis in Melbourne.

Molik, 28, beat Queensland's Jade Hopper 6-1, 6-2 in her opening match at the Australian Open wildcard play-offs.

The winners of this week's men's and women's events will gain direct entry to January's Open.

Injury and illness forced Molik to retire briefly last year, but she says that is all behind her now.

Andy Murray's former coach Mark Petchey insists the British No 1 should stand down from DavisCupduties with immediate effect and make way for the likes of Loughborough's Dan Cox.

Contest shifted to Hong Kong over security concerns

Pakistan Tennis suffered yet another setback on Friday when the InternationalTennisFederation( ITF) moved the country's DavisCuptie against Hong Kong from Lahore because of security fears. The ITFinformed the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) that the DavisCupGroup II match to be played March 5-7, 2010 has been relocated to Hong Kong.
