Doubles Victory Propels Spain to Davis Cup Title
Former Wimbledonchampion Amelie Mauresmo has confirmed her retirement from professional Tennis.
The 30-year-old Frenchwoman, who also won the Australian Open and was ranked No 1 in the world in 2004, announced her decision at a news conference this morning.
Mauresmo said: "I came here to announce the end of my career. I made this decision after careful consideration."
Mauresmo revealed in October she was considering calling time on her career, claiming she could not "find again the desire'' to compete.

When Amelie Mauresmo reached the final of the 1999 AustralianOpen as a 19-year-old, the word frail was not in anybody s mind. Despite losing to Switzerland s Martina Hingis, who referred to her as half a man , many believed the hugely talented Frenchwoman, with a superlative top-spin single-handed backhand, would reel off a host of grand slams.

Czechs to clash Spaniards in 2009-Davis Cup finals
The Czech Republic will play for the first time in almost 20 years in the finals of the men's most prestigious Tennis tournament, the DavisCup, on Friday against Spain.
The Spanish team, represented among the others by World's No.2 Rafael Nadal will take on the Czechs at their home stadium Palau Sant Jordi in Spain.
